Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Offbook Ventures, LLC ("Offbook," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding the information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our web app, and our iPhone app. By using our website or services, you agree to the practices outlined below.
Definitions
"Websites" refers to our public-facing sites, including https://www.offbook.com and any related pages or subdomains.
"Services" refers to our web and mobile applications and any tools or features we offer now or in the future.
"Visitor" refers to anyone viewing our website.
"Customer" refers to anyone who registers for or uses our Services.
"Personal Information" means information that identifies you directly, such as your name or email address.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect Personal Information such as your name and email address. You can sign up with an email and password, with Google, or (in our iPhone app) with Sign in with Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive a private relay address from Apple instead of your real email. If you contact us, you may also provide additional information in your message.
Scripts, Photos, and Other Content
You may upload content such as scripts, sides, PDFs, photos of script pages (taken with your camera or chosen from your photo library), pasted text, and notes. We store this content, the scenes we create from it, and the scene partner audio we generate for it so you can practice. You can delete scenes from your library at any time; see "Data Retention" and "Deleting Your Account and Data" below for what happens to the underlying files.
Microphone and Speech Audio
When you practice a scene, Offbook listens for your lines so it can follow along. This requires microphone access, which you can turn off at any time in your device or browser settings. How your speech is processed:
- •By default, audio from your microphone is streamed through our servers to a cloud speech recognition service, which converts it to text in real time.
- •For some accounts and features, we use another speech recognition provider. When one is used, your audio is streamed to that provider instead.
- •In our iPhone app, when you are offline or a cloud service is unavailable, Apple's speech recognition is used. On devices that support it, this runs entirely on your iPhone; on other devices Apple may process the audio under Apple's own privacy policy.
- •We use the recognized text during your session to match your lines. Practice audio and the recognized text may be reviewed to improve Offbook.
- •When speech recognition fails during practice in our web app, we may send our team a short diagnostic message so we can fix the problem. It can include a few words that were recognized, the line you were expected to say, and your account identifier, and it is delivered through a third-party messaging service we use for internal alerts.
Information Collected Automatically
We use analytics and diagnostics tools to understand how the Services are used and to find and fix problems:
- •Product analytics. We record how you use features (for example, that a scene was created or a practice session finished), with device and app or browser information. Events are linked to your account ID; in our web app they may also include your name and email address.
- •Crash and error reporting. When something breaks, we collect diagnostic details such as the error, device and app version, and your account ID. In our web app, our error reporting service may also record a replay of a small share of sessions and of sessions where an error occurs, with on-screen text and media masked.
- •Website and marketing measurement. Our website and web app use cookies and similar technologies to measure visits and the performance of our advertising, including whether a visit led to a sign-up or purchase. Our iPhone app does not use these tools, does not use the device advertising identifier, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- •Our servers also record standard technical information such as IP address and request logs to operate and secure the Services.
How We Use AI Services
Offbook is built on third-party artificial intelligence services. When you use the features below, we send the content those features need to the AI service providers we use for them. Our iPhone app asks for your permission before it sends any of this, and you can change your choice at any time under Profile > AI data sharing.
- •Reading your script. Uploaded pages, photos, and text are sent to AI service providers to read the script and identify characters and lines.
- •Casting voices and scene artwork. Scene text is sent to AI service providers to suggest voices for each character and to create a scene summary and cover image.
- •Scene partner voices. The lines of the characters you are not playing are sent to voice generation providers to create spoken audio. If you choose to convert a recording of your own voice, that recording is sent to a voice generation provider.
- •Speech recognition. Your practice audio is processed as described in "Microphone and Speech Audio" above.
- •Checking your lines. When you practice on the web or in the Mac app, the script line you are saying, the text speech recognition heard, and the line just before it are sent to an AI service provider to judge whether you finished your line. No audio is sent.
- •Genie and coaching. When you ask Genie a question or use coaching features, your question and the scene text are sent to AI service providers to answer it and to write scene summaries and questions.
We send only what each feature needs, and we do not sell your content.
Using Offbook in ChatGPT and Claude
You can connect your Offbook account to ChatGPT (OpenAI) or Claude (Anthropic). When you connect, you sign in to Offbook and allow the assistant to act for you. The assistant can then:
- •see the titles and roles of the scripts in your Offbook library;
- •add a script that you attach or paste in the chat;
- •open Offbook inside the chat, signed in to your account.
When you ask the assistant to add a script, the assistant sends us the file or text, and we process it like any other upload. Rehearsal inside the chat runs in the Offbook app, under this policy. Information you share with the assistant itself is handled by OpenAI or Anthropic under their own privacy policies.
We keep a record that you connected an assistant and which Offbook features it used. You can disconnect at any time in the assistant's settings; Offbook access tokens expire after one hour, and the assistant's sign-in expires after 90 days without use.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- •Provide and maintain the Services, including processing your scripts, generating scene partner audio, and following your lines during practice;
- •Personalize and improve the user experience;
- •Authenticate users and prevent misuse;
- •Respond to support requests and reports;
- •Analyze trends and improve the Services;
- •Create and publish de-identified, aggregated statistics about how people use the Services (for example, the share of survey answers, typical scene length, or rehearsal patterns). These statistics cannot reasonably identify any person or reveal the content of any script, and we never publish script text, script titles, or individual answers;
- •Send service‑related communications and limited marketing communications (you may opt out of non‑essential communications at any time).
Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your Personal Information. We share information with service providers who help us operate the Services, only as needed for them to provide their services to us:
- •AI providers: the AI service, speech recognition, and voice generation providers described in "How We Use AI Services".
- •Hosting, storage, and infrastructure: providers of cloud servers, websites, sign-in, databases, file and audio storage, and background processing.
- •Analytics and diagnostics: providers of product analytics, error reporting, and website measurement.
- •Email: an email delivery provider, to send account and service emails.
- •Payments: our payment processor, and Apple for purchases made through the App Store.
We require the service providers we share user data with to protect it in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and to use it only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or in connection with a business transaction, such as a merger or acquisition.
Payments
When you subscribe on our website, our payment processor collects your billing information directly; we do not receive or store your full card details. If you subscribe through the App Store, Apple processes your payment under Apple's terms and privacy policy, and we receive only the information needed to confirm and manage your subscription, not your payment details.
Shared Scenes and Reporting
If you share a scene, the people you invite or who open your share link can view that scene's title, script, and audio. You can stop sharing at any time. If someone shares a scene with you, you can report it to us or hide all scenes from that person. Reports, including any note you add, are sent to our team for review; we do not tell the person who shared the scene who reported it.
Your Choices
You may request access to, update, or delete your Personal Information. In our iPhone app you can turn AI data sharing on or off at any time under Profile > AI data sharing; while it is off, uploading, scene setup, practice, and Genie are unavailable in the app. You can turn off microphone, camera, or photo access in your device settings. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time or disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that deleting or withholding certain information may affect your ability to use the Services.
Data Retention
We retain Personal Information and your content for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services and comply with applicable laws. Practice audio and recognized text may be reviewed to improve Offbook, and are held only as long as needed for that. When you delete a scene, it is removed from your library, but copies of the uploaded files and generated audio may remain in our storage and backups. Analytics and diagnostics data is kept according to our providers' retention settings. Aggregated or anonymized data may be retained indefinitely.
Deleting Your Account and Data
You can delete your account at any time in the app (in the iPhone app, Profile > Delete account). Deleting your account deletes your sign-in account and profile, cancels any active website subscription, removes your scenes from your account, and deletes coaching materials you uploaded. App Store subscriptions are managed by Apple and must be canceled in your Apple account settings. We keep a record of the deleted account, and copies of uploaded files and generated audio may remain in our storage and backups. To ask us to delete these remaining copies, or for any other privacy request, contact us at the address below.
Security
We use industry‑standard physical, technical, and organizational measures to help protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access and disclosure.
Children's Privacy
Our Services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child has provided Personal Information, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If a change affects how we share your data with AI services, our iPhone app will ask for your permission again. Your continued use of the Services after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
